Puppy Rescue in Bharathidasan University

Two members of PfA Kollam, Aseer Manilal and Sujith, now doing research in Bharathidasan University rescued six puppies from the campus. The puppies' mother had died while giving birth.

Spreading Awareness

The young generation must be enlightened with the message of compassion and kindness to all living beings, in keeping with our great cultural heritage. Towards this end, PFA conducts awareness classes in educational institutions, giving talks and screening VCDs. PFA is planning to start student units in schools and colleges, with their co-operation.

Distribution of Pamphlets

When dogs are caught for the ABC program or vaccination, we distribute information pamphlets to the public in the area, spreading awareness on PFA and Animal Rights. These pamphlets ask people to spay their dogs, help animal welfare organizations, report animal abuse, etc. It also gives information on how to so these, as well as implores people to set captive birds free.

We also have pamphlets targeting children, giving tips towards a happier and kinder society, that are distributed in schools.

Three Puppies Adopted

Three female stray puppies were rescued from the premises of MA Math, Karunagappally. They were brought to Kollam in the PFA ambulance, and adoptions were made in nice haqppy homes for them.

Captive Elephants

PFA Kollam Chapter has teamed up with PFA Chennai Chapter to help captive elephants. Together, the two chapters have filed a writ petition in the High Court of Kerala against extreme cruelties towards captive elephants in the State. The Petition was requesting that the "Captive Elephant Management Rules - 2003" be implemented and enforced.

Voice of the Voiceless

Under the auspices of the Kindness Club, a seminar was held in the FMN College, Kollam the day after it was inaugurated (September 26th, 2006). The topic of this was "Voice of the Voiceless".

Kindness Club

The Kindness Club was inaugurated by the Kollam District Collector Mr. B. Sreenivas on September 25th, 2006, during a national seminar on "Compassion in Action". This took place at the SN College for Women in Kollam. The club aims to promote an attitude of Kindness to All living creatures among interested children and adults.

Compassion in Action

PFA participated in a national level seminar on "Compassion in Action," held at the Sree Narayana College for Women in Kollam. The Kindness Club was inaugurated during this seminar, on the 25th of September, 2006.

Animal Welfare

Our President, Professor CK Tankachy, presented a paper on "Animal Welfare" at a one-day seminar. This was conducted at Panmana Ashramam on April 27th, 2006. About 350 people attended this program.

Alternatives to Dissection

PFA organized and held a Seminar on a topic similar to Alternatives to Dissection, at the KTET Training College, Kalluvathukal, Kollam, on March 24th, 2006. About 200 people attended.
